Cerec® Crowns
WHAT ARE CEREC® CROWNS?
Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramic (CEREC®) crowns are ceramic tooth restorations created with the CEREC® system. Crowns are designed to restore damaged or missing teeth. With the CEREC® system, crowns could be created within minutes at our dental office. Before CEREC® technology, the process of getting a crown would take multiple visits to the office and a great deal of time.
REASONS FOR CEREC® CROWNS:
Cosmetic modification
Cover and support teeth with filling
Cover dental implant
Cover discolored teeth
Holding dental bridge in place
Restore damaged teeth
Protect weak teeth
PROCESS OF CEREC® CROWNS:
Begins with examining and preparing the tooth in need of of the crown. X-rays will be taken to examine the roots and surrounding bone of the tooth receiving the crown. If there is a potential risk of infection or injury to the pulp of the tooth, then a root canal treatment may need to be performed prior. The tooth receiving the crown will be reshaped along the sides and surface as necessary for the crown to fit. Filling material may be used to structure the tooth to support the crown. A model of the crown will be created using CEREC® technology. The crown will then be adjusted into place on the tooth to ensure a comfortable and perfect fit.
